Bonding
Spokane, WA

We have never heard of a time when bonding is bad. Bonding is a good thing. Bonding always makes connections stronger, don’t you think? Sometimes, you bond with someone because they are from the same hometown. You may bond with an airport friend because you are always traveling to the same city.

Bonding can also happen when you meet someone who loves the same restaurant as you do, or whom you have a friend in common with. You can even bond with someone you meet by chance. Bonding is not only good for you; it is good for your teeth too. Bonding helps your teeth that are no longer perfect return to that perfection they used to have. If you don’t know about bonding, keep reading. Smile More Spokane Family Dentistry would love to give you more information about the bonding process.

What is Bonding?

We use bonding to fix places on your teeth that are less than perfect. Bonding is a composite material made out of a combination of plastic and glass. We can use bonding material to fix all kinds of areas that cause trouble because bonding is the same color as your natural teeth. That means bonding can be used nearly everywhere for your teeth to fix issues - without anyone knowing you had a problem.

Uses for Bonding

There are lots of ways we can use bonding to fix places on your teeth that are less than perfect. You may have been born with an imperfect tooth, or tooth placement. Many people were born with a gap between their two front teeth. While some people adore their gap - not everyone’s a fan. We can fix the gap by applying bonding, and it will look like you were born with no gap at all.

You may have had one or two of your teeth dinged up because of an injury or an accident. We’ve had several customers chip a tooth on a bottle or a can. Sports can also chip teeth - many of our patients chip a tooth playing sports. We can use bonding to reshape your chipped tooth so that it looks the way it did before sports. If you have fractures or cracks in a tooth, bonding can be used to smooth over the crack or fracture. We can also use bonding to fix teeth were discolored.

Some people injure a tooth, and instead of falling out, the tooth changes color. If the tooth isn’t dead, we will leave it in your mouth, but we can put bonding on the tooth to change the color. Bonding is a great way to restore the look of your teeth to the way they were when you were younger. In some cases, bonding can make your teeth look better than they did when you were younger!

Procedure

Bonding is an easy procedure. It is also painless, which is a great feature. First, we select a bonding color for your teeth that matches your natural teeth. If you have time, you may want to get your teeth whitened or cleaned before we do the bonding process because the bonding agent doesn’t change color once it’s applied. That means if you’re teeth aren’t white, and you try and whiten them later, the bonding agent won’t match. Bonding is a great way to fix issues with your teeth.
